Kilts are a great choice for any formal event and weddings in particular. However if you plan on going to this big day in a kilt, make sure you know these basic rules and etiquette of wearing a formal kilt.
1.Wear Underwear
Contrary to popular belief kilts are not meant to be worn with nothing underneath. Wearing underwear with a kilt is optional but highly advisable. Especially if you do not have a lot of experience in wearing kilts and you are not a pro at managing the kilt while you sit. You can wear any underwear of your choice, but be sure to wear some.
2.Accessorize

4.Don’t Wear A White Kilt
If you are attending a wedding leave the color white to the bride and the groom. Wearing white can be offensive to the couple getting married as it is their big day and they are supposed to be wearing white. A white shirt is perfectly fine for your kilt outfit, but having an all-white outfit can be a problem. The best solution is to wear a black kilt with a white shirt or a patterned kilt with a white shirt and a black jacket. 5.Kilt Size
People who are new to wearing a kilt may not be aware of the fact that kilts do come in different sizes and shorter kilts are generally casual kilts. If you are ordering online and are unsure of your size it is recommended to order one size larger than your pant size as kilts do have a slightly different fit than pants. Moreover you want a kilt which is at least till the center of your knees, this applies both for men and women.
6.Dress Code
It’s great that you want to wear a kilt for this formal event but it is important to keep the dress code in mind. You don’t want to show up at the wedding wearing a kilt and an outfit which is completely unrelated to what all your friends and family are wearing. Kilts are available in many different colors and styles and it shouldn’t be difficult to find a kilt which goes with the weddings’ dress code. Moreover you can also choose a kilt which will be appropriate for the weather and time of day by selecting the right type of fabric and the right accessorize to accompany your outfit.
